Janssen PMP acquires PYRION TM business from WeylChem GmbH |

Janssen Preservation and Material Protection, a division of Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, Belgium has arrived at a new milestone in its growth plans with the acquisition of the PYRIONTM business unit from WeylChem GmbH, Germany. This deal involves the total PYRIONTM product portfolio that was marketed by WeylChem as well as commercial assets, manufacturing know-how and goodwill. The companies also concluded an exclusive toll-manufacturing agreement under which WeylChem will continue to produce the PYRIONTM products for Janssen PMP which will assure a further supply of the same quality products to the customers. The PYRIONTM product portfolio consists of safe and effective fungicides and bactericides that are used in various industries such as Antifouling, Wood Protection, Metalworking fluids, In-can preservation and for protection of different materials (e.g. textile, leather, paints and coatings etc.). The products are also used in the cosmetics and personal care industries. Formulators and blenders around the world are incorporating these biocides in their proprietary branded end-use products. The acquisition will contribute further to the growth of Janssen PMP in line with the strategic focus in the preservation and material protection markets. It will reinforce Janssen PMP’s position as a major player in the biocidal products market and will build on the position as a major supplier in the speciality material protection markets. Janssen PMP intends to support customers for the PYRIONTM products with research developments and registrations and supply technical products and technical concentrates to the world-wide customer base. Janssen PMP has appointed dedicated business and product managers that will assure a further growth and excellent customer support for the PYRIONTM portfolio. The PYRIONTM product range has an excellent fit with the Janssen PMP image and position and will enhance the division’s competitiveness and capabilities in the challenging market environment of the Biocidal Products.
